Message from the Principal
Finance Officer
I would like to announce that Alison Elsegood has resigned from her position as Finance Officer. I would like to thank Alison for all her hard work and dedication to OLGC over the past 10 years. Alison has had a significant positive effect on the financial running of our school, she will be deeply missed. I have placed an advertisement for her position which will be filled over the next few weeks.
Christmas Extravaganza
A reminder that our Christmas Extravaganza is on Sunday 1st December starting at 4pm sharp students are asked to arrive at least 15 minutes prior. At this event students sing Christmas Carols followed by a fun picnic on the oval. There will be food and drinks available for parents to purchase as well as fun activities for kids.
AGM
Parents are invited to attend our P&F and Board Annual General Meeting to be held on Monday the 2nd December at 6:30pm in the school Hall. At this meeting members of the P&F and Board will give an overview of the past year. I will also provide information regarding progress over the past year as well as plans for the future.
Kiss and Drive
For the safety of all our students could parents please ensure that when you are using the drop off at the front of the school that you are moving to the drop off area. By moving forward it allows for other cars to safely enter the driveway and therefore not cause congestion.
Mission Day
For our mission day each class organised a stall as well as our Year 6 students running their own games and stalls. The children engaged in exciting activities and ate lots of delicious food. We raised $820 which will be donated to the St Vinnies Christmas appeal as well as Wheel Chairs for Kids.
Remembrance Day
The Year 6 students held a very reverent prayer service for Remembrance Day. On the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, a minutes’ silence is observed and dedicated to those soldiers who died fighting to protect the nation.
Kindy Orientation
Last Friday we held our Kindy orientation for students starting in 2020. We had a full house! It was wonderful to see existing families mixing with the new members of our community. Thank you to Mrs Monastra, Mrs Luca and Mrs Wilson for all their efforts to make this a wonderful experience for students and parents.
Code of Conduct statement 10
You maintain and build on the community’s trust and confidence in Catholic schools and the Church.
Guidelines
- Your conduct maintains and builds public trust and confidence in your school, other members of the school community, and the Church.
- Any unlawful and unethical actions in your personal life risk adversely affecting both your own and the school’s reputation in the eyes of the public. If the good standing of either you or the school was to diminish, this might jeopardise the inherent trust between the school and parents, as well as the community more generally, necessary for effective relationships and the best education of students.
- You notify the Principal of your involvement in any criminal investigation or other legal process that may undermine trust and confidence in your judgement or care of students.
- You consider the interests of the school and the Church when exercising your right to freedom of speech and participating in public, political and academic debate, including publication.

There are many ways you can help so please get in touch if you’re thinking about it.
We look forward to new members joining in 2020, full of great ideas and working together, we can continue to grow our community…. come and be a part of something special!
The OLGC P&F is now on Facebook!!
As a way of keeping up with communication, a page has been created for members of the OLGC Community – please look for OLGC KARRINYUP P&F and request to join. All correspondence will be a duplication of what is already in the newsletter so you won’t miss out on anything.
SCHOOL BANKING
Calling for volunteers – we need your help - in 2020!
Our students really enjoy participating in the Commonwealth Bank School Banking program and to keep this program running we need your help.
We are starting to recruit and train now for volunteers to join the team in 2020!
The program requires more volunteer School Banking Helpers to assist on the weekly school banking roster. This only takes a small amount of your time one day a week on a rotating roster. Under the current roster, it only works out to be 3 or 4 times per term for each volunteer. Your help with the program will greatly benefit students as they develop vital saving skills and also help our school with fundraising.
Currently, School Banking day is Wednesday from 8.20am to 8.40am in the School Hall.
If you are interested in volunteering for this great program, please let us know.
Thanks in advance
Natalie and Tracy
