2020-Term 1 Week 5
Message from the Principal
Last Wednesday Fr Bernard celebrated Ash Wednesday Mass with the whole school. In Father's homily he spoke about Lent being a time where Christians can reignite the "Fire in our hearts". It is a time in which we can reflect on what it means to be a Christian. The Lenten Season is a time of preparation and penance in the 40 days prior to Easter.
Student Code of Conduct
At the end of 2019 students from Year 5 and 6 along with a representative from each class developed a student code of conduct. Our Lady of Good Counsel School’s Student Code of Conduct allows children to develop as Christian people in a safe, caring and supportive environment. It seeks to encourage behaviours centered on gospel values, while at the same time developing an awareness of the expectations. Through the implementation of this ‘Student Code of Conduct’, we are attempting to create a happy and safe school environment where all students can learn to their potential. At each assembly our Head Boy and Girl will focus on one aspect of the code. Please see the document below for an overview of the Student Code of Conduct.
Staff Writing Professional Development
Yesterday all staff engaged in a professional development day on writing. Jasmin Kenworthy lead staff through an engaging day. Staff explored the explicit teaching of different forms of text; writing processes, strategies and conventions; and the contextual aspects associated with the act of composing texts. Staff examined writing development and ideas and suggestions to enhance and further improve student success.

I am doing this for my Nonno Giovanni. He was 61 years old when he died from Cancer. Another person I am doing it for is my Uncle Mundy. He was 63 years old when he died.
Cancer effects everyone and it must be stopped. All the money I raise will go to cancer research to find cure for this terrible disease.

Innaloo/Karrinyup Parish Renewal Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, as our first and deepest preparation for the Parish Renewal, we offer this Prayer of Pope John XXXIII.
“O God, renew your wonders in our time, by sending the Holy Spirit upon the Church as for a new Pentecost” Our hearts await your gifts, O Holy Spirit: reconciliation, peace, personal faith in our Redeemer, and a deep and sharing unity with one another and with all people. Confidently, we make this prayer through You, Jesus, our saving Lord, Amen".
V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be led into all the promises of Christ your Son
