HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL OUR WONDERFUL MUMS, STEPMUMS, GRANDMOTHERS,  & AUNTIES WHO CARE FOR ALL OUR CHILDREN, MAY YOU CONTINUALLY BE BLESSED AND SURROUNDED BY LOVE.

Message from the Principal

Welcome Back

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday break. It has been great to hear from the students who seemed to have loved their time catching up with family and friends. I returned after being away for the past five weeks. While away I was able to read many books, catch up on many movies and television series, go out for breakfast and lunch and my house and gardens have never looked better. My wife has also said she will miss me cooking and running our daughter around. I am refreshed and re-energised for what will be a very busy term.

ANZAC DAY

Thank you to our Year 6 students who lead the school in the ANZAC Prayer service to commemorate the landing of Australian and New Zealand forces at Gallipoli on the 25th April, 1915. We reflected on the impact of war, conflict and peacekeeping operations in Australia’s history and prayed for those involved in wars, their families and for peace.

Principal Appointment

As you would now be aware I will be moving schools at the end of this term. I will deeply miss OLGC as we have such wonderful staff, students and community members. The process for appointment of the new principal will begin shortly and the community will be informed once a principal has been appointed.

NAPLAN Online
From May 10 to May 20, students in Years 3 and 5 will be participating in NAPLAN Online testing. One of the main features of the NAPLAN Online format is that it is a tailored (or adaptive) test. This was introduced a few years ago and will still be a feature this year. The tailored test provides a more precise assessment of your child’s performance in the areas of Reading, Language Conventions (Grammar, Spelling and Punctuation) and Numeracy by adapting to responses.

God Bless

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

mothers day

With the cooler weather coming up would you please take the time to check jumpers, ties and all removable items of clothing to put the name of the current owner on these items, please?

We have had a large amount of lost property and cannot return it due to no name or the item having the name of a past student.

Also, could you label lunchboxes, water bottles, jumpers, ties, socks and shoes, please?

Many thanks.

P&F NEWS

ABOUT THE P&F

The P & F plays an important role in the life of the school. Our role is to help build a positive school community by planning and organising functions associated with the social, sporting, cultural and educational life of the school community.  We promote the Catholic ethos of the school through all of our activities.

The P&F run a range of community events throughout the year, such as the Family Fun Day, Kids Disco and the End of Year Christmas Extravaganza. In addition, we provide community services such as, morning teas, the Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stalls, Feast Day and Mission Day children’s lunches and much more!

Each year the P&F contributes a portion of the funds to many items throughout our school that are above the normal educational resources and assist in improvements around the school grounds. Over the last number of years we have contributed to the classroom furniture upgrades, , a contribution to the Yr 6 Camp, Art, Music, Sport and Library grants, and upgrades to the lower playground.

The OLGC P&F is a committee built of volunteers and funded by the annual voluntary fee contribution; the OLGC P&F is an integral part of the OLGC family. Meetings are held in the staffroom or via Teams monthly on a Tuesday evening. All parents are encouraged to be active members of this valued body and are expected to support the many activities.
