Message from the Principal
It has been an absolute joy to join the Our Lady of Good Counsel School community and have been made to feel so welcome. Thank you to all those families that have introduced themselves to me over the past two weeks. I am excited about the wonderful opportunities that lie ahead for our school and partnering with you all in this journey.
As a new Principal, it is important to reflect on the journey that the school has already undertaken, when looking towards the future. As a staff, we have begun a discussion around the school’s current Strategic Plan and what goals we seek to achieve within our school community this year. As a staff, we are working within the CEWA Quality Catholic Education (QCE) areas of Catholic Identity, Education, Community and Stewardship. Throughout the year, and into the future, the staff will be undertaking ongoing professional conversations that carefully examine our school data and use this information to bring alignment in our teaching practices across the school. At the forefront of this vision, will be the embedding of the school values of Love, Respect, Excellence and Justice. I have been incredibly impressed by the dedication shown by our teaching and support staff, in their desire to build upon and develop Our Lady of Good Counsel School into a community that is centered on these four core values.
Parent Information Evening
Thank you to the parents that were able to attend the Parent Information evening yesterday. The teachers provided wonderful feedback regarding the enthusiasm that was shown regarding the year ahead. For those families who were unable to attend, all information discussed will be uploaded to your child’s Seesaw account by the end of the week.
Parent Sacramental Meeting
Mario Borg from 24/7 Ministries led our parents through an engaging session regarding their child’s preparation to receive the sacrament this year. Attendance at this meeting is compulsory for at least one parent. If you were unable to make today’s session, you should attend the session at 5.30pm tomorrow (Thursday 9 February) at St Dominic’s Parish.
Community
I discussed at the Parent Information Evening, my desire to engage and foster our school community as a ‘village’ where we come together, celebrate with one another, and lend a hand.
I actively encourage parents to become involved wherever possible. There will be multiple opportunities throughout the year, such as P&F meetings and events, classroom rosters, busy bees etc.
Have a wonderful week,
Lisa McClue
