Gifted & Talented Education (GATE)

Our Lady of Good Counsel School’s THINQERs program aims to assist gifted or talented students in Years 4-6 by providing opportunities for students to engage in activities that utilise creative and critical thinking skills and higher order thinking skills.

Students are assessed by an external GATE consultant, utilising the TOLA (Test of Learning Ability) and SPM (Standard Progressive Matrices) assessments to determine suitability for the program.

In addition to the THINQERs program, Our Lady of Good Counsel School also participates in a range of external academic competitions such as Tournament of Minds, Prime Ministers Spelling Bee, Write a Book in a day competition and the Mathematical Olympiad. Eligibility for these competitions is not limited to students in the THINQERs program.
