3 Year Old Program

3 Year Old ProgramOur Lady of Good Counsel School’s Three-Year-Old program provides a rich learning environment that enables children to develop the physical, cognitive, language, social, emotional and spiritual domains. Children are supported through intentional play-based learning giving them the opportunity to explore, inquire, engage in critical thinking, solve problems and grow in a safe, caring and trusting environment.

The program supports the interests and needs of each child by providing opportunities for children to discover, create, improvise imagine and develop a sense of agency. Children are encouraged to socialise, make connections with others and develop friendships. This encourages them to challenge each other’s thinking and build new understandings.

The program is based on the principles, practices and outcomes outlined in the Early Learning and Care in Catholic Settings document and the Early Years Learning Framework. The central themes of the framework are being, belonging and becoming. These themes encompass five learning outcomes that are designed to “capture the integrated and complex learning and development of all children across the birth to five age range” (The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia, 2009).

The program recognises the importance of building secure, respectful and reciprocal relationships between children, families and community. The foundation for strong partnerships between the school, families and the community begin here.  Through the Three Year-Old Program at Our Lady of Good Counsel School, we aim to provide children with the opportunity to receive the best start to their schooling life.

The Three Year Old program runs each Wednesday during term time.
